Professor Bryon Thomas Russell is a business oriented architect and a founding partner of The Syndicate Companies. He has a wide range of professional and academic experience in the fields of architecture, technology, building, research, and instruction as they relate to critical sectors of the Real Estate industry.
Mr. Russell was educated at Columbia University where he acquired backgrounds in Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Cultural Studies. Beginning his collegiate education, he attended the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University with a major in Civil Engineering and was tempered by coursework in the humanities. During his third year of study, he transferred to the Columbia College to begin his major studies in Architecture. Mr. Russell received his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University in 2001 and continued his studies at the Graduate School of Architecture of Columbia University; receiving his Master of Architecture degree in May of 2004. He subsequently received an immediate appointment to the faculty of the Pratt Institute in the fall of 2004.
Mr. Russell has over ten years of professional experience in the fields of construction and architecture. He began his professional career with a position as a site superintendent for Bovis Lend Lease and served an integral role in the completion of the 2 Columbus condominium tower, the conversion of a 500,000sf SRO building into the Hudson Hotel and the renovation and conversion of the St. Moritz hotel on Central Park South into what is now the Ritz Carleton and Residences. He then transferred to Cicognani Kalla Architects where he acquired over two years experience in the design of high end residential apartments and residences. In 2007 and 2008 Mr. Russell’s involvement with HOK resulted is work on a diverse range of projects: residential development, medical schools, laboratories, hospitals, Proton Beam Radiation Therapy, and major transportation infrastructure.

His primary responsibilities include the operations and business strategies at Syndicate that simultaneously involve other professions such as architecture, construction, finance and development. He is a knowledgeable designer, instructor, and technologist serving the critical role of a Principal in the development of Syndicate projects. He serves as the primary source of company policy and sets a firm wide example of striving to invent a more efficient business model and sets of systematic processes and operations. His strong background in the building industry brings to Syndicate significant capabilities in the realm of quality control, site logistics, project management, construction finance, and code and zoning.
